Update on Superintendent Search
“One of the most important responsibilities we have as a school board is to hire a superintendent. We, as a board, are taking this responsibility very seriously as we continue in our current search for a full-time superintendent. Due to the late time of year for potential applicants to inform their current board of their interest in advancing their career and or applying for other positions, the timeline to select from a quality group of applicants is diminishing quickly. It is our strong intent to hire a candidate who is the right person to fill the superintendent role at Auburn Public Schools and whose qualities, skills, and characteristics align to our needs. Therefore, we have determined that it is in the best interest of the school district to extend our hiring timeline to the fall/winter of 2019. The board recently hired Interim Superintendent, Dr. Virginia Moon, who has committed to provide district leadership throughout the 2019-2020 school year which gives us this chance to do what we, as a board, feel is best to ensure a quality hire and the right individual to lead as the APS superintendent. We appreciate the patience of our teachers, staff, students and taxpayers as we proceed through this process.”
