Dear Families,

On Wednesday, March 18th, 2020, Auburn Public Schools initiated a closure to help limit the spread of COVID-19 across the community.  At this time, the closure is set to run through Friday, May 1st, 2020. There is still a possibility school will be closed for the remainder of the school year. We continue to seek guidance regarding school closure from the Governor, Nebraska Department of Education, and the Southeast District Health Department.

As we strive to continue learning opportunities for our students during the closure, teachers have thoughtfully put together Educational Learning Plans (ELPs) for PK-12 students. ELPS are grade-specific and will be sent once a week on Mondays to parents and students via email. They will also be mailed to families without internet resources. Please call the Central Office to request paper documents at 402.274.4830.

All assignments and activities are designed to keep students engaged in learning throughout the closure. We recommend that students complete assignments and activities for feedback from teachers. They will not be graded. We also encourage students and/or parents to reach out to teachers at least once a week regarding progress on completed ELP assignments and activities, if possible.

The first Education Learning Plans for students will be sent on April 6, 2020. If you have questions specific to your student’s classroom, please contact that teacher directly by email as they will be available to respond during the week between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.  Given the circumstances, please understand that teachers may not be available to respond immediately, but will reply within a timely manner.

This is an overwhelming time for families, students, and educators. Although we strongly encourage your child to complete assignments and activities, we recognize that families may be struggling to adapt to this new normal. If implementing Educational Learning Plans is too much at this time, that’s okay. Introduce the plans when the time feels right for your family or partially complete ELP assignments and activities.

The district greatly appreciates your support during our school closure.

Sincerely,

Dr. Virginia Moon

Superintendent
